Resolved Question: Civilization 5 won’t work…?

Civilization 5 won’t work. It gets to the launch screen, which asks which version I want to use, but regardless of which I choose I get the error: “The program can’t start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”

I tried reinstalling directx, and it gets all the way to finalizing , then I get this error: “An internal system error occurred.
Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine problem.”

If I try running Civ 5 in compatibility mode I don’t get the dll missing error, but nothing happens anyway. Help.

Here are my system specs… If theres anything that might help you to help me that you can’t find below let me know and I’ll provide it.

Open Question: Why do my fullscreen games minimize automatically?

As soon as i open up a fullscreen computer game, it goes back to windows automatically, and maximizing the game just minimizes immediately. its really frustrating and it happens on:
Starcraft 2, Killing Floor, Left 4 Dead 2, GTA San Andreas

the only way to actually make it work is if i start spamming my mouse button in a raging fit.

This problem has been occuring recently.. maybe its a bug from a recent windows update? im not sure.
