Space Invaders Tabletop Arcade Cabinet Piggy Bank

Unlike the Space Invaders arcade cabinets of our youth, this tabletop version actually helps you save money. It even features an LCD screen that lights up when a 100 yen coin is entered.

It can hold about 80 coins, which is the equivalent of about $89US. Not a bad haul when all is said and done—in fact, that’s about twice as much as the device actually costs. However, I would have liked to see a version of the actual game built-in.[Takara Tomy via CScout Japan via JeanSnow via Kotaku]

Matte Screen Options for 15-Inch Superglossy MacBook Pro

Superpros who want 17 inches of MacBook Pro can get a matte screen from Apple for $50. Apple annoyingly hoses people who want a portable notebook. But they’ve got a couple aftermarket options.

TechRestore replaces the entire screen and LCD panel—overnight, even—for $199. It comes with a one-year warranty. Here’s how it works:

We remove the glass screen cover…then replace the glossy screen with a matte-finish screen that has the exact same specifications as the original; same resolution, same color depth, same LED backlight…you get the idea. We install a custom black bezel around the edge of the screen that matches the finish of the MacBook Pro and looks great. The bezel has all the required holes in it for the iSight and other items that sit at the top of the MacBook Pro screen housing.

Downside is that it’s only for the MacBook Pro, and if you decide you wanna go back to glossy later on, you’re stuck.

For a more temporary, but lesser quality fix, you can get an anti-glare cover, like the iVisor from Moshi, who’ll be offering it for the MacBook and Pro. It’ll be a lot cheaper, presumably:

Voting Question: My monitor isn’t registering and I need a different resolution (1440X900)?

I just reformatted my PC and now my monitor won’t register. On the Display window it shows “Monitor Type: Default” and the resolution will not go past 1280X1240. I have a widescreen so I need the resolution to be 1440 X 900 or the picture is all distorted and choppy. I’ve tried installing two different video driver updates from Dell.com (i have a Dimension 8400), all to no avail… I’m stumped as to what to do next. Anyone know what to do next?
To answerer #1, like I said following your steps the max resolution I can get is 1280X1240… Thanks though!

Open Question: Screen Driver nvlddmkm problems, will getting a new card help?

I don’t know what to call everything in English, but I hope you’ll understand. Ever since I got my computer, a Vista, I’ve had this problem. The computer freezes, goes black, and then I get the message that screen Driver nvlddmkm stopped functioning and has been restored. At first it only happened a few times a week, so I didn’t think too much of it, but after I updated it to fix it, it has been happening almost constantly. I thought maybe it would help if I got a new NVIDIA card, but I don’t know. I heard someone else fixed this problem by putting in his old card again.
