I installed steam, Orange Box and am currently playing Portal, the game is very laggy and has to run on absolute lowest settings, I was looking forward to purchasing CALL OF DUTY 4, but I am afraid that my “crappy” laptop performance will ruin the experience any suggestions?

thanks

Resolved Question: I’m having trouble gettting my vomputer to change to the recommended 1440 x 900 resolution setting.?

My computer is an older one - probably about 4 yrs old, and the monitor is a Viewsonic VA1912wb. My Video card (I think) is a VIA/53G UniChrome IGP

I’ve installed the driver that came with the monitor and I’ve tried upgrading the driver for my video card as well, and it at least now gets me to a widescreen resolution - 1280 x 768, but the display still doesn’t look great. I’ve tried calling Viewsonic but theres only so much waiting on hold that I can do…

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Voting Question: Laptop monitor resolution changed when I updated video card drivers?

I updated the video card driver for NVidia Gefore 7300 on my Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV600 laptop and now the maximum resolution I can set the screen to is 1280 x 854 pixels, while the monitor actully is a 1440 x 900 pixels. Therefore the picture is all fuzzy. I have tried messing around in the Monitor settings without luck, can anyone help?

Resolved Question: I Need 1440 x 900 Monitor Resolution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

I have an Acer Al1916W LCD monitor. I need the 1440 x 900 resolution for it. In the display properties, its not there. I downloaded and installed the AL1916W monitor driver from the acer website but there still isnt a 1440 x 900 resolution. I tried powerstrip and it didnt work. I read that i need to update my display adapter. I have Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controller. I don’t know what to do and its driving me crazyyyy. It worked before but i did a system recovery, and the 1440 900 resoltion is gone and i forgot how to do it again.
Someone Please Help!!!

and if youre going to tell me to download something from a website, please give me the link so i dont have to guess what im supposed to be searching for.

Voting Question: Is it worth paying an extra $350 for 1920 X 1200 resolution instead of 1440 X 900 resolution?

Is it possible to buy a 17″ laptop with a resolution of 1440 X 900 and somehow (mayb using tweaked drivers) set the display to 1920 X 1200. Or is it all built into the screen and not possible..
