Widescreen Wallpapers

I have an intel integrated media accelerator 3100 (33g/31g ?) video card and a viewsonic va1703 wb 17inch lcd monitor.

I bought this computer from dell’s website, and the monitor calls for a 1440 X 900 screen resolution. At first, this resolution was available. After turning on my computer yesterday, it is no longer an option. All my drivers are up to date, and a lengthy online chat with dell to try to fix the problem was no help. They said that this resolution isn’t available and i need an upgraded video card that can support this resolution.

I don’t understand how it was available before and now it isn’t. I hadn’t installed any other software or anything.

Is it true that i will have to upgrade my video card? Any help is appreciated.
steve- the screen is blurry and hurts the eyes if not on 1440 X 900, a message always pops up saying to switch it to this resolution also. Thanks for the response though.

Okay I have an issue that is driving me crazy. My favorite game of all time is avp2 gold edition for the PC. Its an old game but its so wonderful. For some reason I’m having a problem with it on my new computer (which should easily be able to handle it). Graphics aren’t the problem.. I can set it to the HIGHEST graphics and it works beautifully. Resolution is the problem. My screen is a 1440 x 900 monitor. Its strange because the game works perfectly fine when I set it to the lowest res which is like 600 x 400. Of course this means the picture is stretched to fit my monitor and it looks hidious. If I set the game to the highest resolution it looks absolutely gorgious. It also works flawlessly.. smoothly.. outstanding. but after a few moments the screens image freezes. The game is still running cause I can hear all the sounds of my actions.. but on the screen is this frozen image. I don’t know whats causing it to just freeze like that. I love this game and I really want to play it so if anyone knows how to fix this issue please TELL ME!

My drivers for my graphics card nvidia geforce 6.1 are all up to date.. I can’t think of anything else to do. I even downloaded all the updates for windows vista to try to fix the problem but still no luck. I am hoping its not a problem with my monitor.
